We have only been living in Nizas for 4 months but it already feels like home.
It is such a beautiful and welcoming place that it would be hard for anyone not to feel like this. Although the village is small, there is a lot going on and the population is quite diverse, including people from all over France and expats from around the world. The main attraction is the bar/restaurant, which is always busy, especially in the summer with the terrace which extends into the square. Patrick, who runs it, is quite the entrepreneur and likes to organise special events to showcase the chef’s cooking skills!
Our favourite so far has been the “Moroccan Night” where he erected a Moroccan style tent in the square, had a DJ playing Ibiza-inspired tunes and served us all a wonderful tagine.
The village is surrounded on all sides by vineyards. They are beautiful at any time of year, but I have to say that Autumn is now my favourite! I had no idea that the leaves on the vines changed colour too. There is the most stunning array of yellows, oranges and reds at the moment. It’s divine. Autumn is also warm and sunny and perfect weather for walking or bike riding. All a much less sweaty experience than in the summer!
There are a number of fantastic Domaines in the area too where you can taste and buy the delicious wine for which the Languedoc is famous. More about this later!
I am going to be showing you, week by week, what our part of the wonderful Languedoc has to offer. If you are interested in making a booking for one of our beautiful Gîtes then please contact me on email@example.com
